Influencer and digital creator Apoorva Mukhija, known online as The Rebel Kid, has returned to Instagram after a wave of backlash connected to the ongoing India’s Got Latent controversy.
The comedy-based YouTube show, hosted by comedian Samay Raina, recently came under fire, leading to multiple FIRs, public protests, and even venue vandalism. Apoorva, who was indirectly caught in the fallout, had earlier deleted all her Instagram posts. But now, she’s speaking out.
A Strong Comeback With a Message
Apoorva marked her return with two deeply emotional posts.
The first post carried a trigger warning and featured 19 screenshots showing threats of sexual violence, hateful comments, and character attacks. Her caption read: “That’s not even 1%”, highlighting the scale of the abuse she received. The post quickly gained support, with many influencers and followers expressing outrage and solidarity.
Many users and fellow creators are now demanding better digital safety laws and stricter action against online abuse.
Her second post was minimal but powerful. It read:
“Don’t take away the story from the storyteller.”
No caption followed — just a clear stand for her voice and identity.
The Bigger Picture
Mukhija’s return is not just about reclaiming her space online, but also shedding light on the mental health impact of online hate, especially for young creators and women in comedy or content creation.
She has not yet made any further public statements, but her message is being seen as a stand for all creators who face digital harassment.
