Ford is once again recalling thousands of Bronco Sport and Escape SUVs due to an unresolved issue from a previous recall—raising concerns about the automaker’s ability to address safety defects effectively.
According to filings with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), this latest recall affects:
✅ 15,355 Bronco Sport SUVs (2021–2023 models)
✅ 18,221 Ford Escape SUVs (2020–2022 models)
🔥 What’s the Issue?
The root problem stems from fuel injectors that may crack, leading to vaporized or pooling fuel near hot engine components. This poses a serious risk of under-hood fires, crashes, and injuries.
What makes this recall frustrating for owners is that these vehicles were already recalled for the same issue under previous safety recalls (24S16 / 24V092 and 22S73 / 22V191)—but Ford failed to properly implement the fix.
Why Was the Previous Recall Ineffective?
🔹 Software Upload Failure: Ford discovered that the dealer scan tool used in prior repairs failed to install the necessary software update, leaving vehicles exposed to the same danger.
🔹 Double Recall Trend: Ford has had multiple re-recalls in recent years, with software issues becoming a recurring problem.
What Should Owners Do?
Dealer Notifications: Ford will notify dealerships about the affected vehicles starting April 24, 2025.
Owner Notifications: Owners will start receiving recall notices by mail in May.
Check Your VIN: If you own an affected vehicle and don’t want to wait, visit the NHTSA website and enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to see if your car is included.
Ford has been under scrutiny for frequent recalls across its lineup, with software glitches plaguing multiple models. As recall fatigue grows among both owners and technicians, many are hoping the automaker improves its quality control moving forward.
