Tata Motors is gearing up to expand its electric vehicle (EV) lineup in India with the imminent launch of the Tata Harrier EV, followed by the Tata Sierra EV and its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart. Tata Harrier EV: Launch and Specifications
The Tata Harrier EV is slated for launch before the conclusion of the current financial year. This electric iteration of the popular Harrier SUV is built on Tata's Gen 2 EV architecture, promising an uncompromised range and advanced features. While specific battery details are yet to be officially disclosed, reports suggest a 60 kWh liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery, offering a claimed range of up to 500 km on a single charge.
Tata Sierra EV and ICE Variants: What to Expect
Following the Harrier EV, Tata plans to introduce the Sierra EV in the next fiscal year, with the ICE variant expected to debut in the latter half of 2025. The Sierra EV is anticipated to feature both single and dual electric motor configurations, potentially offering all-wheel-drive capabilities. Battery specifications are projected to be in the range of 75-80 kWh, aiming for a real-world range of approximately 600 km on a full charge. The ICE version of the Sierra is likely to be equipped with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo diesel engine, delivering 170 PS of power and 350 Nm of torque, paired with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Additionally, a 1.5-liter TGDi turbocharged petrol engine option may be available.
