Hero MotoCorp Stays on Top in India's Two-Wheeler Market in FY25
Hero MotoCorp has once again proven its dominance in India’s two-wheeler segment, closing the fiscal year 2024–2025 with the highest market share. The company sold over 5.44 million units, giving it a 28.84% share of the two-wheeler market. Despite tough competition and evolving market conditions, Hero remains the preferred choice for millions of Indian customers.
Strong Performance Despite Industry Competition
In February 2025 alone, Hero MotoCorp sold 385,988 motorcycles and scooters, capturing 28.52% of the market that month. While this figure is slightly lower compared to previous years, the company maintained its lead ahead of Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) and TVS Motor Company.
Honda followed closely with 4.78 million units sold and a 25.34% share, while TVS reported 3.3 million units and a 17.5% share. These figures highlight that Hero’s brand loyalty and wide product range continue to give it an edge, even as new entrants and electric options gain traction.
Rural and Urban Reach Fueling Growth
One of Hero MotoCorp’s biggest strengths is its deep penetration in rural India. The company’s strong dealer network, affordable pricing, and fuel-efficient models make it a go-to brand in both small towns and major cities. Hero has also expanded its presence in urban areas by focusing on premium models and improved service centers.
Moving Toward Electric and Global Expansion
Looking to the future, Hero is turning its focus toward electric mobility and international markets. The company has announced plans to launch its Vida electric scooter lineup in Europe, including the UK, by mid-2025. This marks a major shift for Hero, as it targets developed markets that are rapidly adopting clean energy vehicles.
The company also plans to invest more in innovation, product development, and AI-based technology to stay ahead in a highly competitive market.
Balancing Legacy and Future Growth
Hero MotoCorp is one of the few Indian companies that has managed to maintain a leading position over several decades. While the industry shifts toward electric vehicles (EVs) and smart technology, Hero is preparing to evolve while still catering to its massive base of traditional two-wheeler customers.
The fiscal year 2024–25 may mark a transition period, where the company balances current customer demands with future tech-focused offerings.
