Isuzu Motors Limited will showcase its first battery electric vehicle, the D-MAX EV Concept, at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show in New Delhi, set for March 17 to 22. The D-MAX EV Concept is designed for both commercial and passenger use while maintaining the tough performance of a typical pickup truck.
Equipped with a full-time 4WD system and e-Axles, the truck offers excellent handling on rough roads and smooth acceleration, which is typical for electric vehicles. The D-MAX EV Concept features a 66.9 kWh Li-ion battery and has a towing capacity of 3.5 tonnes. It is powered by dual high-power electric motors generating 130 kW and 325 Nm, achieving a top speed of 130 km/h and a payload capacity of 1,000 kg.
The D-MAX EV's rear motor produces 121 hp and 217 Nm, resulting in a total combined power of 174 hp, which outperforms the current 1.9L diesel engine in India. The vehicle’s payload and towing capacities remain similar to its traditional combustion engine counterpart.
The D-MAX EV will primarily be targeted at markets in Europe, with Norway being one of the first to receive the electric truck in 2025. It will also be available in other countries like the UK, Australia, and Thailand based on demand and the growth of EV charging infrastructure.
