Karma Automotive has officially unveiled the Amaris series plug-in hybrid coupe at its first-ever Create Karma product presentation in Irvine, California. The company, known for its luxury electrified vehicles, aims to bridge the gap between its existing lineup and future EV offerings with this stunning new model.
Kaveya EV Delayed to 2027, Amaris to Launch in 2026
Initially, Karma planned to launch its fully electric Kaveya coupe in 2026. However, shifting market demands in the high-end EV sector have prompted the company to push the launch to 2027. To fill this gap, the Amaris will debut in late 2026, offering a blend of electric performance with extended range capabilities.
Additionally, Karma confirmed that the Ivara electric SUV is also set for a 2027 release, expanding its future lineup of luxury electric vehicles.
Karma Amaris Hybrid Coupe Performance & Platform
Unlike the Kaveya, which is built on an entirely new EV-specific platform capable of over 1,000 horsepower, the Amaris will utilize a modified version of the Revero sedan's architecture. This strategic decision accelerates development while leveraging Karma's existing expertise in luxury hybrid technology.
Interestingly, the Revero’s platform originates from the iconic Fisker Karma, the luxury hybrid sedan from the early 2010s. Karma Automotive was formed from Fisker’s assets after the latter went bankrupt in 2013.
Revised Gyesera Sedan to Debut as a Plug-In Hybrid
Karma also announced that its previously unveiled Gyesera electric sedan will initially launch as a series plug-in hybrid instead of a fully electric vehicle. The Gyesera, featuring an updated design, is expected to replace the Revero sedan later in 2025.
What Makes the Amaris a Standout Hybrid?
Series plug-in hybrids, also known as extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs), primarily rely on an electric powertrain but include a gasoline engine that acts as a generator. This setup enhances range while retaining the benefits of instant EV torque.
For the Amaris (and likely the upcoming Gyesera), Karma will use a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine instead of the 3-cylinder engine found in the Revero. The Revero's powertrain features:

✅ 28-kWh battery (offering 80 miles of pure electric range)
Karma hasn't disclosed full powertrain details for the Amaris yet but confirmed:

Karma Amaris Production & Pricing Details
Karma has not yet announced pricing for the Amaris or the Gyesera. However, production will take place at Karma’s Moreno Valley facility in California.
