The Mahindra Scorpio N pickup has been spotted testing on Indian roads in Manali, ahead of its expected launch in 2025. This pickup truck was first unveiled as a concept in 2023 and is being developed for both the Indian and international markets, including South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and GCC countries.

Key Changes in the Test Model

Compared to the concept version showcased in Cape Town, the test mule has undergone several modifications to enhance practicality. Notable changes include:

  • A taller roll bar at the rear, which now extends well above the cabin, making it look more like a commercial vehicle.

  • Replacement of LED rear lights with halogen units.

  • A redesigned tailgate with a centrally positioned handle.

  • A repositioned fuel filler cap.

  • New alloy wheel designs.

  • A leaf spring suspension setup, which suggests better load-bearing capacity but results in noticeable bouncing over uneven roads.

Both single-cab and double-cab versions of the Scorpio N pickup have been spotted during testing in Manali.

Performance and Features

The Scorpio N pickup is likely to feature the 2.2-litre diesel engine from the Scorpio N SUV, with a 4x4 option. A petrol variant may also be introduced to keep costs lower and comply with future emission norms. High ground clearance, customizable ride modes, and advanced tech features such as 5G-enabled remote functions and ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) are expected.

Market and Competition

While lifestyle pickup trucks are still a niche segment in India, Mahindra plans to export a large portion of Scorpio N pickups to global markets. In India, it will compete with models like the Toyota Hilux and Isuzu V-Cross. The demand for such vehicles in India is expected to grow gradually.

With its rugged design and feature-rich package, the Scorpio N pickup is set to make a strong impact in both domestic and international markets.
