Porsche 911 Carrera GTS Wins 2025 World Performance Car Award
The 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS has been named the World Performance Car of the Year at the 2025 New York International Auto Show. This marks a major achievement for Porsche and the 911 lineup, especially since it’s the first hybrid version of the 911 to win the award.
A Big Win for Porsche
The World Performance Car award is part of the annual World Car Awards, which recognize top vehicles in different categories. To be eligible, a car must be sold in at least two continents and produced in quantities of over 1,000 units a year. The Porsche 911 Carrera GTS stood out among strong competitors like the BMW M5 and the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT.
Hybrid Power Meets Classic Performance
The 2025 911 Carrera GTS is the first 911 to feature a T-Hybrid powertrain. This system includes a 3.6-liter six-cylinder boxer engine paired with a 1.9 kWh battery and two electric motors. Together, they produce 541 horsepower and 610 Nm of torque, making the car both fast and efficient.
With this setup, the car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in just 2.9 seconds. It also has a top speed of 312 km/h (194 mph).
Smarter Turbo with Electric Assist
One of the most interesting features of the 2025 Carrera GTS is its electrically assisted turbocharger. This design uses an electric motor to spin the turbo even before exhaust gases kick in, which helps eliminate turbo lag. That means the car responds more quickly when the driver presses the accelerator.
More Than Just Speed
The car also comes with rear-axle steering and a sport-tuned suspension, which make it handle better at high speeds and in tight corners. Even though it’s packed with performance features, it still maintains the classic 911 style and driving feel that fans love.
