Skoda Auto India to hike car prices by up to 3% from Jan 2025 due to rising costs. Kylaq SUV remains at intro price for 33,333 bookings.

Skoda Auto India has announced a price increase of up to 3% on the ex-showroom prices of its vehicles, effective from January 1, 2025. This hike will impact Skoda's popular models, including the Kushaq, Slavia, Superb, and Kodiaq. The company attributed the decision to rising input and operational costs, ensuring that the quality standards customers expect are maintained.

However, Skoda's recently launched compact SUV, the Kylaq, will remain unaffected by the price increase until it reaches 33,333 bookings. This move offers prospective buyers a limited window to secure the SUV at its introductory price. Bookings for the Kylaq opened on December 2, and in just ten days, it has already crossed 10,000 reservations, reflecting strong demand and customer enthusiasm for the model. Deliveries for the Kylaq are scheduled to begin on January 27, 2025.

The price hike is part of a broader trend in the Indian automobile market, as several manufacturers have announced increases due to inflationary pressures. Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Kia India, Hyundai, Mahindra & Mahindra, MG Motor India, Mercedes-Benz, and BMW India have also confirmed price hikes of up to 4%, effective from January 2025. Stellantis-owned Jeep and Citroen brands have similarly announced their price adjustments.

For Skoda, the decision comes amidst a competitive automotive landscape where balancing affordability and maintaining quality has become a significant challenge. The company's vehicles, known for their European styling and advanced features, continue to appeal to a growing base of customers in India.

The price increase may push potential buyers to accelerate their purchase decisions before the hike takes effect. At the same time, Skoda’s move to exempt the Kylaq from the increase for a limited period shows its focus on driving strong initial sales for its latest offering.

With the new year around the corner, customers planning to buy a Skoda vehicle will need to consider the upcoming price revision while making their decisions. Skoda remains confident that its commitment to quality and innovative products will continue to attract buyers, despite the rising costs.
