Tata Motors has announced a major push for electric vehicle (EV) charging in India with the launch of the Tata.ev Mega Charger network. The company aims to set up 4,00,000 charging points across the country by 2027, making EV charging more accessible and convenient.

Fast Charging Network with 500 Stations in a Year

To start, Tata Motors will establish 500 high-speed charging stations within the next 12 months. The network will be developed in partnership with four companies: Tata Power, Zeon, Charge Zone, and Statiq. Each charging station will offer fast charging of up to 120kW, allowing users to quickly charge their vehicles.

Benefits for Tata EV Owners

While the charging network will be open to all EV brands, Tata EV owners will get priority access and up to 25% lower tariff. The Mega Chargers will also have restrooms, restaurants, and 24/7 support for a better customer experience.

Easy Payments and Customer Support

Tata Motors will simplify EV charging by offering:
✔ A single payment app
✔ Unified RFID-based payments
✔ 24x7 customer support through a toll-free number
✔ Integration with Tata’s iRA.ev app

Expanding Charging Infrastructure

As part of its Open Collaboration 2.0 initiative, Tata Motors will work with charging providers and oil companies to install 30,000 public chargers, with the rest being home and community chargers. The focus will be on both cities and highways to improve visibility and ease of access for EV users.

‘Tata.ev Verified’ Chargers

Tata Motors will also introduce a rating system called ‘Tata.ev Verified Charger’, where customers can rate charging stations based on factors like location, accessibility, and working condition. Only chargers with a 4-star or higher rating will get the ‘.ev verified’ badge.

Future Plans

Tata Motors is also working on UPI-based payments for community charging and a mobile charging van for doorstep EV charging. These steps aim to boost confidence in EV adoption and make charging hassle-free for users.

With this initiative, Tata Motors is set to revolutionize EV charging in India, making it easier and more efficient for people to switch to electric vehicles. 🚗⚡
