India’s first solar-powered car, the Vayve Eva, was launched at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 at a starting price of Rs 3.25 lakh (ex-showroom). The Vayve Eva was initially showcased in its concept form at the Auto Expo 2023, but this launch reveals the final production version, available in three variants: Nova, Stela, and Vega. Here’s a look at the prices across the different variants:

Variant

With the battery rental plan

Without the battery rental plan

Nova

Rs 3.25 lakh

Rs 3.99 lakh

Stella

Rs 3.99 lakh

Rs 4.99 lakh

Vega

Rs 4.49 lakh

Rs 5.99 lakh

The battery rental plan is priced at Rs 2 per kilometer, reducing the upfront cost of the car. However, the car owner must drive a minimum number of kilometres each month to meet the battery cost, even if they do not use the car actively. The entry-level Nova variant has a minimum monthly driving limit of 600 km, Stella requires 800 km, and the Vega trim needs 1200 km.

Exterior Design

The Vayve Eva carries a design similar to the Mahindra e2O and Reva but with modern elements. It features sleek LED headlights connected via a central LED bar, and a closed-off grille, except for a small air inlet to cool the battery and electronics. The car sits on 13-inch aerodynamically designed wheels and includes a solar panel on the roof for solar charging. The rear of the car features a clean, simple design with a dual-tone finish and an LED tail light strip.

Interior Design

Inside, the Vayve Eva offers a minimalist layout with two seats arranged one behind the other. The dashboard is equipped with two digital displays: one for instrumentation and the other for touchscreen controls. The steering wheel has a 2-spoke design, and below the touchscreen, you’ll find controls for manual air conditioning. The cabin is basic in design, with simple door handles and storage compartments.

Features and Safety

Despite its simplicity, the Vayve Eva offers a few standout features like dual digital displays, a 6-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat, and a fixed glass roof. For safety, it includes airbags for the driver and 3-point seatbelts for both seats.

Electric Powertrain

The car is powered by an electric motor and features different battery pack options, with a 9 kWh, 14 kWh, or 18 kWh pack depending on the variant chosen. The Nova and Stela variants produce 16 PS of power, while the Vega generates 20 PS. The range of the variants is as follows:

  • Nova: 125 km
  • Stella: 175 km
  • Vega: 250 km

The Vayve Eva is equipped with solar charging, which can provide up to 10 km of added range each day. A 15W AC socket charges it from 0 to 80% in 4 hours, while a DC fast charger can do the same in just 45 minutes, giving it up to 50 km of range with just 5 minutes of charging.

In conclusion, the Vayve Eva offers an affordable and eco-friendly solution for those looking to drive an electric car with solar-charging capabilities. The car is set to make waves with its unique solar-powered design and competitive pricing.
