The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a notice emphasizing the importance of exam ethics for Class 10 and 12 board exams. Schools have been instructed to ensure students are well-informed about the rules and consequences of misconduct. The board exams for around 44 lakh students across 204 subjects will start from February 15, 2025.
Key Guidelines for Schools
- Educate students about exam rules and the penalties for using unfair means (UFM).
- Brief parents and students on the importance of ethical conduct and the impact of spreading rumors.
- Prohibit banned items in exam halls and inform students of strict actions if rules are violated.
- Ensure that deployed exam officials are properly trained.
Consequences for Violations
If a student is caught with banned items, such as electronic devices, or found spreading rumors about the exam, their current and next year’s exams will be canceled.
List of Permitted and Banned Items
Permitted Items
- Identity Proof: Admit card and school ID (for regular students); Admit card and government-issued ID (for private students).
- Stationery: Transparent pouch, geometry box, blue/royal blue ink/ballpoint/gel pen, scale, eraser, writing pad.
- Other Items: Analogue watch, transparent water bottle, metro card, bus pass, money.
Banned Items
- Stationery: Printed/written material, bits of paper, calculators (except for Dyscalculia students), pen drives, scanners, log tables (will be provided by the exam center).
- Communication Devices: Mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, earphones, microphones, smartwatches, cameras, etc.
- Other Items: Wallets, goggles, handbags, eatables (except for diabetic students), and any item that could be used for cheating.
Dress Code
- Regular Students: Must wear school uniforms.
- Private Students: Should wear light, comfortable clothing.
The board has also provided a detailed list of unfair practices and corresponding penalties. Students are advised to strictly follow the guidelines to ensure smooth and fair exams.
