Several FIITJEE centres across Delhi-NCR and Uttar Pradesh have unexpectedly shut their doors, leaving students and parents in a limbo. These closures have affected prominent coaching centres in Delhi’s Laxmi Nagar and Noida Sector 62, as well as branches in Meerut, Ghaziabad, Lucknow, and Varanasi. FIITJEE, known for preparing students for competitive exams like the JEE, was a popular choice for many aspiring engineers. The sudden shutdowns have caused panic among students who were preparing for the upcoming IIT-JEE exams.

Why Closed?

The closure of these FIITJEE centres has raised several questions. Parents and students are worried about their academic future as the coaching centre was an essential part of their exam preparation. The shutdowns appear to be linked to financial difficulties, as some teachers have not received their salaries, leading to unrest. This has caused parents to file complaints, with some even lodging FIRs against the institute, demanding accountability for the abrupt halt in operations.

Parag Gupta, the parent of a Class 10 student enrolled in the Noida FIITJEE coaching centre, expressed his concern. “We are associated with FIITJEE for two years. My daughter joined the coaching centre in Class 9 and then got through a scholarship programme for Class 11… I have paid Rs 80,000 in installments already. Keeping the monetary loss aside, every parent is concerned about the future of the children,” Gupta said. He further added, “The students are the most affected lot as this is a very unexpected move from a reputed institute like FIITJEE. They have also not come out with an official statement. Hopefully, we will get our answers soon.”

Impact on Students

For many JEE aspirants, FIITJEE was the backbone of their preparation. The sudden closure of the centres has left students stranded and uncertain about their next steps. With exams approaching, it’s crucial for them to stay focused and not lose track of their preparation. The closure has also affected teachers who have not been paid and left them in a difficult situation. As a result, the closures have not only created financial problems for the institution but also caused emotional distress for students and parents.
