In a shocking development, a candidate in the Madhya Pradesh recruitment examination has scored 101.66 marks out of a possible 100, sparking protests from job aspirants in Indore. The controversial result was attributed to the "normalisation" process used in the Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board’s recruitment exam.

On Monday, a group of agitating job seekers gathered outside the district collector’s office in Indore, demanding a fair inquiry into the exam process. The protesters submitted a memorandum addressed to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, urging a review of the recruitment system.

The joint recruitment examination 2023, also known as the Van and Jail Recruitment Test, was conducted by the Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board. The exam, held for positions in the forest and jail departments, saw a controversial result when a candidate topped the list with a score of 101.66 out of 100.

The results were declared on December 13, and the Board clarified that the "normalisation" process was responsible for the score exceeding the total marks. The normalisation process is designed to adjust scores in cases where the examination is conducted in multiple sessions, each with different question papers. It aims to ensure that no candidate is unfairly advantaged or disadvantaged based on the difficulty of their respective paper.

However, this process has come under fire as many job aspirants believe it creates a system that allows scores to exceed the maximum limit. According to Gopal Prajapat, a leader of the protesting candidates, this is the first time in the history of the state that a candidate has received more than 100 marks due to normalisation. Prajapat and others allege that the normalisation process is flawed and may indicate possible manipulation or fraud in the recruitment system.

The protesting candidates are calling for a thorough investigation into the matter and have demanded that the normalisation process be reviewed to ensure fairness in future examinations.

The controversy has raised serious questions about the transparency and integrity of recruitment exams in the state, with many job aspirants fearing that such irregularities could affect their chances of securing government jobs. As of now, the Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board has not announced any further steps regarding the protest or the claims of fraud.
