The Odisha Police Recruitment Board has started accepting applications for 933 Sub-Inspector (SI) and equivalent posts from today, January 20. Interested candidates can apply online at odishapolice.gov.in until February 10.
Vacancy Details
- Sub-Inspector of Police: 609 posts
- Sub-Inspector of Police (Armed): 253 posts
- Station Officer (Fire Service): 47 posts
- Assistant Jailor: 24 posts
Note: Persons with Disabilities are not eligible to apply. Women and transgender candidates can apply for SI Police and Assistant Jailor posts only.
Age Limit
Candidates must be 21–25 years old as of January 1, 2024. Relaxation in the upper age limit is provided as follows:
- SC/ST/SEBC/Women: 5 years
- Ex-Servicemen: Full term of service is deducted from the age.
If eligible under multiple categories, the most beneficial relaxation applies.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply, candidates must:
- Be Indian citizens with good character, sound health, and free from any physical defects.
- Be able to speak, read, and write Odia.
- Have passed exams with Odia as a subject or studied Odia at the required level.
- Have no criminal record or multiple living spouses.
Educational Qualification
- For SI Police, SI Police (Armed), and Assistant Jailor: Bachelor’s degree.
- For Station Officer (Fire Service): Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering.
Selection Process
- OMR-Based Written Test
- Physical Efficiency Test (PET)/Physical Standard Test (PST) (qualifying in nature)
Candidates will be shortlisted for PET/PST based on merit, at a ratio of seven candidates per vacancy.
