School Bus Cancellations Due to Snowstorm in Ontario
A significant winter storm is impacting several regions of Ontario, leading to widespread school bus cancellations. Environment Canada snowfall warnings are in effect, causing significant disruption to school transportation, particularly in the northern parts of Central and Eastern Ontario. Areas Most Affected
The highest probability of school bus cancellations (over 75%) is in the Near North region, encompassing East Parry Sound and North Bay, as well as North Hastings and Renfrew County. While snowfall amounts are close to the cancellation threshold, the risk remains substantial. Nipissing-Parry Sound Student Transportation Services has already cancelled all school buses in their region. Similarly, Algoma and Huron-Superior Transportation Services have cancelled all services in Central Algoma, impacting several communities and routes.
Ottawa and Surrounding Areas
Although under a snowfall warning, the Ottawa region has a lower (25%) chance of widespread cancellations due to its urban infrastructure and higher tolerance for winter conditions. However, with some weather models predicting over 20 cm of snow, this probability could increase significantly. The Renfrew County Joint Transportation Consortium reports complete cancellations in Zone 4 and potential delays in other zones.
Other Regions
The likelihood of cancellations decreases further south and west, with only a dusting of snow expected in many areas. An exception might be communities along the Lake Huron shoreline, where lake-effect snow and strong winds could lead to a 25% chance of cancellations. The GTA and Deep Southwestern Ontario are largely unaffected.

- SCDSB: East Oro PS and Marchmont PS are closed, with all school vehicles cancelled.
