UGC NET Dec 2024 exams start Jan 3, 2025. Check subject-wise schedule, shift timings & updates for 85 subjects at ugcnet.nta.ac.in.


The University Grants Commission (UGC) has announced the revised dates for the National Eligibility Test (NET) December 2024 cycle. As per the notification released on December 21, the exams will now start on January 3, 2025, instead of the earlier scheduled date of January 1. The exams will continue till January 16, 2025.

The UGC NET is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and aims to qualify candidates for Junior Research Fellowships (JRF), appointment as Assistant Professors, and admissions to Ph.D. programs. For this cycle, the exams will be held online across 85 subjects.

The test will be conducted in two shifts each day:

  • Morning Shift: 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon
  • Afternoon Shift: 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM

The subject-wise exam schedule has been uploaded on the official UGC NET website – ugcnet.nta.ac.in.

Candidates will receive an intimation about their exam city eight days prior to the scheduled exam date. This notification will also be available on the official website.
