Abhay Verma reflects on his breakout year with Munjya, overcoming struggles, gaining fame, and sharing heartfelt moments with fans and idols like Imtiaz Ali.

Abhay Verma has been a part of the entertainment industry for six years, but 2024 truly turned out to be his year of recognition, thanks to the success of Munjya. Sharing his thoughts on the year gone by, Abhay says, “This year feels like a fresh start for me. It’s incredible when you go from being just another face to someone the audience embraces. Your signature becomes your autograph, and admirers transform into fans.”

The actor describes 2024 as a “dream come true” and highlights how his identity has shifted within the industry. “Earlier, people didn’t associate much with the name Abhay Verma. But now, being called Abhay Verma, the artist, is special. This year I’ve gone from doing ads to becoming the face of brands. The fact that I don’t need to introduce myself anymore is a beautiful feeling,” he adds.

Interestingly, Abhay reveals how tough things were just before the film's release. “Three days before Munjya hit the screens, I had only ₹1200 in my account. I remember calling my best friend back home, wondering how I’d manage. But I always believed Munjya would change things for me, whether for the better or worse. Thankfully, it shifted gears forward.”

Munjya made headlines as one of the few Hindi films in 2024 to cross ₹100 crore at the box office, despite not featuring an established star. Speaking about this achievement, Abhay shares, “To be in the same club as such big names feels surreal. The audience made this decision, and it’s a beautiful acceptance. Being part of this family of legends is a dream I couldn’t even imagine.”

With fame and success, Abhay feels a new sense of responsibility. “People see me as a symbol of hope for newcomers. It’s not just my win—it’s for everyone trying to make it in this city. Earlier, I didn’t even know what to pray for, but now I pray for one thing: to never lose this.”

2024 also gave Abhay the chance to interact with his idols, including acclaimed filmmaker Imtiaz Ali. Sharing the advice he received, Abhay says, “Imtiaz sir told me that being accepted in this industry is rare. He said to cherish it but stay grounded and keep moving forward.”

Abhay’s name has recently been linked to King, Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming project. When asked about it, Abhay smiles, “I don’t know if it’ll happen, but I hope it does. Working with Shah Rukh Khan, who I idolize, would be the ultimate honor. Whatever I do in my career, it’ll always be inspired by him. He’s my guiding light in this journey.”

As 2024 comes to a close, Abhay Verma stands tall as a rising star, his journey from struggles to stardom proving that dreams can indeed come true.
