Actor Mushtaq Khan, known for his roles in Welcome, was recently kidnapped while traveling to an event. He was tortured for nearly 12 hours by his captors on the Delhi-Meerut highway. His business partner, Shivam, spoke to India Today Digital and shared the details of this shocking incident.
How the Kidnapping Happened
Mushtaq Khan was invited to an event with flight tickets and an advance payment. When he arrived at the Delhi airport, he was asked to get into a car, which took him to a remote area near Bijnor, on the outskirts of Delhi. Shivam explained that the kidnappers tortured Mushtaq for about 12 hours and demanded ₹1 crore in ransom. They also withdrew over ₹2 lakh from the actor’s and his son’s bank accounts.

The turning point came when Mushtaq heard the sound of Azaan early in the morning. Realizing that a mosque was nearby, he managed to escape from the kidnappers and ran for help. He then sought assistance from locals and the police to get back home safely.
Shivam said that despite the shock, Mushtaq was determined to file a police report once he calmed down. "Mushtaq sir and his family were shaken by the experience, but he was sure he would file an FIR. I went to Bijnor yesterday and filed the FIR. We have proof like flight tickets, bank transactions, and CCTV footage from the airport area. Mushtaq also recognized the neighborhood and the house where he was kept. I’m confident the police will catch the culprits soon," he said.
A Similar Case
This kidnapping follows a similar case involving comedian Sunil Pal, who was also kidnapped while traveling to Haridwar. The kidnappers demanded ₹20 lakh, but after some negotiations, Sunil was released after paying ₹8 lakh.
Shivam expressed concern over both incidents, saying, "We didn’t know about Sunil’s case until Mushtaq sir returned and we talked to some friends. When Sunil's case was reported, we realized two celebrities from the industry went through the same thing. It’s scary, and we hope this raises awareness about the need for better protection for everyone."

Thankfully, Mushtaq Khan is doing fine now after the terrifying experience. He is expected to speak to the media soon about what happened. His family and friends are relieved that he is safe, but the incident has raised concerns about the safety of public figures.
The police are continuing their investigation, and it remains to be seen when the kidnappers will be caught. Many in the entertainment industry are now calling for better security measures to protect celebrities from such dangers.
