He further called out those who engage in performative activism, adding, "This won’t get you invited to a Diwali party or land you a TV role, but this is the only time you can actually make a difference." Singh also addressed the controversy on his podcast, explaining why he prefers not to perform in India.

Social Media Reactions

The video sparked mixed reactions online. Some agreed with Singh’s stance, while others criticized him for commenting on Indian affairs.

  • Influencer Seema Anand wrote, "People are outraged over this, but never raise their voices against real issues like violence and assault."
  • RJ Malishka added, "You never know when the mob decides to target you. Until then, we all take our chances."
  • One user thanked Singh, saying, "So preposterous, thank you for speaking up."
  • Others disagreed, with one commenting, "Just because he’s defending them in an American accent doesn’t mean they were right."

India’s Got Latent Controversy

The backlash began when Ranveer Allahbadia made comments about parents and sex on Samay Raina’s show. The remarks sparked a wave of online outrage, including death threats and police complaints. In response, both comedians apologized, and Raina removed all episodes of the show from YouTube.

The debate continues, with opinions divided over freedom of speech and censorship in India.
