I saw a sneak peek, and let me tell you, the clip is hilarious! It's all about a turf war between the Devon and Cornwall police forces, and the prize? You guessed it – a plate of the most glorious scones imaginable. Humphrey and DS Esther Williams (Zahra Ahmadi) are right in the thick of it, and it perfectly sets the scene for a season packed with quirky investigations and plenty of comedic clashes. Humphrey's wit is sharper than ever, and his dedication to solving crimes is, as always, totally unwavering, even if it means facing down rival detectives over baked goods. Who knew a scone could cause so much chaos?
Humphrey and Martha: Life, Love, and Foster Care
Beyond the puzzling cases, this season dives deeper into Humphrey and Martha's (Sally Bretton) lives. Martha's getting ready to reopen her restaurant, and they're also taking on their first long-term foster placement. Things are definitely getting busy! The show's going to explore the ups and downs of fostering, giving us a really relatable look at modern parenthood. From what I've heard from Kris and Sally themselves, their bond is stronger than ever, and they're totally committed to their new family, even if it means wedding plans might be on hold for a bit. It's all very sweet and heartwarming.
Guest Stars Galore and Cases That Will Keep You Guessing
Season three has a fantastic lineup of guest stars, including Hugh Dennis and Caroline Quentin! The cases themselves are super diverse and intriguing – from a body found right on the Devon-Cornwall border (dramatic!), to a really perplexing kidnapping. Kris mentioned a particularly twisty kidnapping case that sounds completely gripping. It's going to be a rollercoaster, I can feel it!
Archie's Back – Uh Oh!
Adding another layer of, shall we say, "complexity", is the return of Martha's charming ex-boyfriend, Archie (Jamie Bamber). While Humphrey seems pretty unfazed by his presence, the dynamic between the three of them is setting up to be pretty funny and potentially a little tense. From what Kris has said, he and Jamie have great chemistry, so I'm looking forward to their scenes.
