CBS Shake-Up: What Happened to Our Favorite Shows?
Okay, TV lovers, let's talk about the CBS fall-out. The 2025-26 TV season? It’s been a wild ride. Some shows got renewed, which is great news for their loyal fans. But others? Well, let's just say there were some serious casualties. It's a mixed bag, leaving us all with a lot of questions.
The Good News: Renewals!
First, the good stuff! CBS renewed some of its biggest hitters. All three NCIS franchises are safe, thank goodness! Ghosts is back, keeping those heartwarming laughs coming our way, and Tracker, starring Justin Hartley, is returning for more action-packed thrills. These shows consistently pull in viewers, so their renewal wasn’t a surprise. It’s good to know some things are staying consistent.
The Bad News: Cancellations!
Now, for the less-than-fun news. After a whopping 14 seasons, Blue Bloods is calling it quits. The finale aired in December 2023 and while it was an emotional goodbye, CBS is trying to keep the Reagan family spirit alive with a spin-off, Boston Blue, focusing on Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg). I have to admit, that was a bit of a shocker. It's the end of an era, that's for sure.
Things got even more complicated with the FBI franchise. Both FBI: Most Wanted (after six seasons) and FBI: International (after four) were canceled. Honestly, who saw that coming? They were doing pretty well, weren't they? To replace them, CBS is bringing in a new show called CIA, starring Tom Ellis (of Lucifer fame). It’s going to be a joint FBI-CIA team thing, so we'll see how that pans out. It's a big change and we'll just have to see if it works for us.
And the cancellations didn’t stop there. Poppa's House, the sitcom starring Damon Wayans and Damon Wayans Jr., got canceled after just one season, along with the reality show The Summit. And then there’s S.W.A.T., which, after eight seasons and several near-death experiences, finally got the axe. You know how sometimes things just spiral? That felt like one of those times.
What Does It All Mean? A New Chapter for CBS
These cancellations show that CBS is ready for a shakeup. They're obviously aiming for a fresh feel. The network is taking a gamble. It's a risky move to replace long-standing shows, but the addition of new series like CIA and Boston Blue signals a strategy of mixing familiar faces with new blood. Will these new shows be able to fill the void left by their predecessors? It’s a big question mark. Only time will tell if this risky strategy pays off. But one thing's for sure: the 2025-26 season is going to be vastly different.
Where to Stream (For Now)
For now, you can still catch up on Blue Bloods on Paramount+. Unfortunately, streaming info for the other canceled shows is still pending. Keep an eye out!
