Drill Rapper DigDat Found Guilty of Attempted Murder
UK drill rapper DigDat, whose real name is Nathan Tokosi, was found guilty of attempted murder on [Date of Verdict] at the Old Bailey. The 25-year-old was also convicted on multiple firearm and ammunition charges related to a drive-by shooting on November 20, 2023, in Notting Hill, London. The victim, 27-year-old Daniel Offei-Ntow, sustained severe injuries, including gunshot wounds to the head, mouth, and body, and was described by the prosecution as "lucky not to die."
The Notting Hill Shooting
The incident occurred at 2:05 am on Clydesdale Road. A stolen Audi pulled alongside Mr. Offei-Ntow's car, and at least six shots were fired from the passenger side. The Audi was later found abandoned, containing a firearm and ammunition. Crucially, forensic evidence linked DigDat's DNA to the vehicle.
The Investigation and Evidence
Police investigations revealed DigDat had borrowed a BMW to make trips from Deptford to Notting Hill in the days leading up to the shooting. Further evidence included DNA from both DigDat and fellow artist Kamal Benjamin (aka Wesson) found in the Audi. Although Benjamin's Instagram activity suggested he was in Dubai at the time of the shooting, his close relationship with DigDat was highlighted during the trial.
Sentencing and Aftermath
DigDat showed no reaction as the unanimous guilty verdict was delivered. His sentencing is yet to be determined, but he faces a significant prison term. Detective Constable Hannah Forrest described the attack as "savage" and highlighted the dangerous nature of Tokosi, noting his recent release from prison prior to this incident. The case underscores the ongoing issue of gun violence in London and the consequences of such actions.
