American voice actor George Lowe, best known for voicing Space Ghost in Space Ghost Coast to Coast, has passed away at the age of 67. He died on Sunday due to health complications.
The news was shared by his longtime friend, “Marvelous” Marvin Boone, who wrote on Facebook:
"I'm beyond devastated. My best friend for over 40 years, George Lowe, has passed away after a long illness. He was a supremely talented artist, voice actor, and the funniest man on Earth."
Who Was George Lowe?
Born in 1957, George Lowe started his career in the 1980s, working on voiceover projects. His big break came in 1994 when he was cast as Space Ghost in the Adult Swim talk show Space Ghost Coast to Coast. The show ran for over 10 years, completing more than 100 episodes.
Lowe became a major voice on Adult Swim, lending his voice to shows like:
- Aqua Teen Hunger Force
- Robot Chicken
- Sealab 2021
- The Brak Show
- Squidbillies
- 12 Oz. Mouse
He also voiced characters in American Dad, Celebrity Deathmatch, and The Grinch.
In July 2023, Space Ghost Coast to Coast writer MC Chris revealed that Lowe had suffered an aortic dissection and required medical care at his home in Florida.
