Halle Bailey and her ex, DDG, is honestly really heavy. Halle—who most people know as a Grammy-nominated singer and actress—is taking some serious legal steps after accusing DDG (real name Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr.) of abuse. The two were in a relationship for a while and have a 17-month-old son together, named Halo. But since they broke up back in October 2024, things seem to have taken a rough turn.

What Halle Says Happened

In court documents, Halle describes some disturbing things. She’s saying that DDG was abusive—physically, emotionally, and verbally. She even gave the court photos of injuries she says came from him.

  • Back in January 2025, there was an incident during a custody exchange where DDG allegedly got aggressive. According to Halle, he hit her, which caused her to chip a tooth and left her with bruises.

  • Then in March 2025, things got even weirder. Halle says DDG came into her house without her okay, sent her a photo of her bed with a creepy message, and during a fight, broke her Ring camera and threw her phone away.

These aren't just small arguments—they’re serious accusations, and Halle’s asking the court to protect her and her son from any more harm.

What the Court Is Doing Now

The court in Los Angeles has granted Halle a temporary restraining order, which basically puts strict limits on what DDG can and can’t do right now.

  • He has to stay at least 100 yards away from both Halle and their son, Halo.

  • He can’t contact her at all—no calls, texts, or even messages through someone else.

  • He’s also banned from owning or carrying any firearms.

  • Plus, he’s not allowed to talk about Halle or their relationship on social media, which is a big deal considering his large following.

There’s a court hearing set for June 6, where a judge will decide if this restraining order should be extended or not.

What's Happening with Custody and Next Steps

Halle’s also trying to sort out custody stuff. She’s planning to be in Italy for work for a couple of months and has asked the court for full custody of Halo while she’s away. She doesn’t feel safe letting DDG have unsupervised time with their son right now.

On top of that, she’s also pushing for something more long-term. She wants the court to order DDG to go through a 52-week Batterer Intervention Program, which is basically a year-long course that’s supposed to help people who’ve been violent or abusive in relationships.

Conclusion

Honestly, it’s really sad that things have gotten to this point, especially with a child involved. Halle’s clearly trying to protect herself and her son, and the courts are starting to respond. This case is still developing, but depending on what happens at the June hearing, it could have a big impact on their future—especially when it comes to custody, co-parenting, and public perception.

It’s a reminder that no matter how famous someone is, they can still go through serious personal struggles—and they deserve to be heard and protected, just like anyone else
