Mumbai Police has given comedian Samay Raina time until March 10 to appear before them for questioning. This is in connection with controversial remarks made by YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia on Raina’s YouTube show India’s Got Latent.
What Happened?
Ranveer Allahbadia, known for his channel BeerBiceps, made offensive comments about parents and sex on the show. This led to backlash and two FIRs being filed—one in Assam and one in Mumbai. The police have been unable to reach Allahbadia, as his phone is switched off and his residence is locked.
Samay Raina's Response
Raina, currently in the United States, has requested more time and has been given until March 10 to return and give his statement. He also removed all episodes of India’s Got Latent from his channel, saying it had become overwhelming for him.
Investigation Updates
The Mumbai Police have questioned some people linked to the show, including popular figures like Ashish Chanchalani and Apoorva Mukhija. The Maharashtra Cyber Cell is also questioning others who participated in the show.
Ranveer Allahbadia posted an apology on February 10, admitting his poor judgment.
