The mischievous Dennis Mitchell, a beloved television character from the 1960s, has been laid to rest. Jay North, the actor who brought Dennis to life, passed away peacefully at his home in Lake Butler, Florida, on April 6th, 2025, at the age of 73, after a long battle with colorectal cancer. His passing was confirmed by longtime friend Laurie Jacobson, wife of "Lassie" actor Jon Provost, via a heartfelt Facebook post.
A Life Defined by More Than Dennis
While North will forever be remembered for his iconic role as Dennis Mitchell in "Dennis the Menace" (1959-1963), his life extended far beyond the sitcom's four seasons. He continued acting, appearing in shows such as "The Man from U.N.C.L.E.", "The Lucy Show", and even a cameo in "The Simpsons." He also served in the U.S. Navy and worked as a correctional officer in Florida for many years.
