The attackers, led by Freddie Glenn, initially intended a robbery, but the crime turned horrifyingly violent. Karen was taken to an apartment, sexually assaulted, and later driven to an alley where she was stabbed 42 times, nearly decapitating her.
Despite the brutal injuries, Karen exhibited unimaginable strength — she crawled over 400 feet to seek help at a trailer home. Tragically, the resident called the police but did not come to her aid directly. Karen passed away before help arrived.
Kelsey, then in his 20s, had to identify her body after reporting her missing — a moment that left permanent emotional scars.
