Malaika Arora and Arjun Kapoor, once a popular couple, parted ways earlier this year after years of being together. While Arjun had openly admitted to being single during a promotional event for his film, Singham Again, Malaika had remained silent about their breakup. Now, in an interview with Etimes, the actress has responded to Arjun's statement.

Malaika Arora’s Response to Arjun Kapoor’s ‘I Am Single’ Statement

Malaika, known for being private about her life, spoke candidly about Arjun’s comment. She said, “I am a very private person, and there are certain aspects of my life which I don’t want to elaborate on much. I will never choose a public platform to talk about my personal life. So, whatever Arjun has said is entirely his prerogative.”

Malaika further shared, “I just want to say that, yes, it has been a very trying year for various reasons. I think it is time for all of us to move on from whatever transpired in the year that went by. I am ready for the New Year and a new start in my life.”

Arjun Kapoor’s Public Admission of Being Single

Earlier this year, Arjun Kapoor made headlines when he spoke about his breakup with Malaika during the promotional event for Singham Again. He assured the paparazzi, saying, “Nahin, ab main single hoon, relax karo (No, I am now single. Relax).” With this, he openly confirmed the end of his relationship with Malaika.

Their Relationship Timeline and Continued Support

Arjun and Malaika started dating in 2018, although they kept their relationship low-key, sharing few pictures on social media during vacations. Despite their breakup, Arjun remained a pillar of support for Malaika during difficult moments, including when her father passed away. Speaking about this, Arjun shared in a recent interview with Raj Shamani, “In life, without going into one instance, I'd like to say when what happened with Khushi, Janhvi, there is an instinct and impulse. In this case, also, there is an instinct and impulse. If I formed an emotional bond with somebody, I'd always like to believe that I'd be there regardless of the good and the bad... I'm not somebody who is doing this for all and sundry. If I feel an emotion with someone, it will be there for life.”

With both Arjun and Malaika choosing to move on in their personal lives, it seems the former couple is ready to leave the past behind and start fresh in the new year.
