Fans of Malcolm in the Middle have something exciting to look forward to! The beloved sitcom is getting a revival on Disney+, and some of the original cast members are returning. Christopher Masterson and Justin Berfield will reprise their roles as Francis and Reese, while Frankie Muniz, Bryan Cranston, and Jane Kaczmarek are also set to return as Malcolm and his parents, Hal and Lois.
However, one major change has been made—Erik Per Sullivan, who originally played Dewey, will not be returning. Instead, the role will be played by Caleb Ellsworth-Clark, known for his work in Fargo and The Expanse.
The revival will also introduce new characters. Anthony Timpano will play Jamie, Malcolm’s youngest brother, while Vaughan Murrae will portray Kelly, a new sibling hinted at in the original show’s finale. Keeley Karsten will play Malcolm’s daughter, Leah, who shares her father’s intelligence and sarcasm but is more sensitive. Kiana Madeira will star as Tristan, Malcolm’s girlfriend.
The limited four-episode series will follow Malcolm and his daughter as they get pulled into family chaos when Hal and Lois insist on celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary.
The original show’s creator, Linwood Boomer, returns as a writer and executive producer, while Ken Kwapis will direct all four episodes. Production is set to begin soon in Vancouver. Fans can’t wait to see the Wilkerson family back in action!
