The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi confirmed the news of his demise, which left the nation mourning. Several Bollywood celebrities took to social media to remember the legendary leader and pay their respects.

Bollywood Stars Remember Manmohan Singh

Actor-comedian Kapil Sharma posted a nostalgic picture with the former Prime Minister on X (formerly Twitter). Alongside the photo, he wrote, “India has lost one of its finest leaders today. Dr. Manmohan Singh was the architect of India's economic reforms, a symbol of integrity and humility. His wisdom and vision transformed our nation. Rest in peace, Dr. Singh.”

Veteran Tamil actor and director Kamal Haasan shared a poignant tribute on X. Posting a picture of the former PM, he wrote, “Dr. Singh was a man of quiet dignity whose vision reshaped India. His policies empowered millions and upheld social justice. He’ll forever be remembered for his enduring contributions to India’s growth. My sincerest condolences to his family and the nation.”

Actress Madhuri Dixit remembered Dr. Singh for his wisdom and grace, posting a heartfelt note on Instagram. “His leadership showed that quiet determination can achieve great things. A remarkable leader and an even more remarkable human being. Om Shanti,” she wrote.

Actor Sunny Deol acknowledged Dr. Singh’s pivotal role in India’s economic liberalization in an Instagram Story. “I'm deeply saddened by the passing of Dr. Manmohan Singh. His wisdom and contributions to the nation’s growth will always be remembered. #RIPDrManmohanSingh,” he shared.

Legacy of Dr. Manmohan Singh

Dr. Manmohan Singh was born in Punjab in 1932. A celebrated economist, he is widely credited with opening India’s economy through groundbreaking reforms in the early 1990s. He served two terms as Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014, during which he focused on economic growth, social justice, and inclusivity.

His long political career saw him represent India in various roles, including Finance Minister, before becoming the country’s first Sikh Prime Minister. Earlier this year, he retired from the Rajya Sabha after serving for 33 years.
