Netflix in 2025: The Shows We Can't Wait to Binge
Just when you thought your watchlist couldn't get any longer! Netflix continues to be the streaming service we love to spend our weekends with, delivering hit after hit that keeps us glued to our screens. From the nostalgia-fueled adventures of Stranger Things to the global phenomenon that was Squid Game, they've proven they know exactly what we want before we even know we want it. So what's cooking for 2025? I've got the inside scoop on what might be your next obsession.
Something for Everyone: 2025's Mouth-Watering Netflix Menu
If your friends constantly argue about what to watch, 2025 might finally bring peace to your group chat. Netflix is rolling out shows across practically every genre imaginable:
- Comedy Gold in the Making: Remember that 1981 classic The Four Seasons? Netflix is breathing new life into it with a dream team of Steve Carell, Tina Fey, and Will Forte. If that cast doesn't have you marking your calendar already, I don't know what will!
- Animation for Grown-ups: Love, Death & Robots is coming back for a fourth season! David Fincher and Tim Miller's wild anthology series continues to push boundaries with its unique blend of sci-fi, horror, and dark humor. Each episode is like opening a mysterious gift box – you never know what you're getting, but it's always fascinating.
- Teen Drama with High Stakes: Bet takes the Japanese manga Kakegurui and gives it an American spin. High school hierarchy determined by gambling skills? Count me in! This one has serious potential to become the talk of Twitter (or X, or whatever we're calling it by then).
And that's just the appetizer. The main course looks even more delicious:
- The Queen of Pop's Story: Madonna fans, rejoice! A limited series executive-produced by the Material Girl herself and Shawn Levy (the genius behind Stranger Things) is in the works. While details are still under wraps, I'm already imagining the iconic costumes and music moments. Will they cast someone brave enough to rock the cone bra?
- Lena Dunham Is Back: Love her or hate her (is there any in-between?), Lena Dunham's return to TV with Too Much on July 10th is big news. This semi-autobiographical romantic comedy stars Meg Stalter and Will Sharpe – and knowing Dunham's style, it'll definitely get people talking.
- National Parks Never Looked So Dangerous: Untamed puts Eric Bana in Yosemite National Park as an agent investigating a mysterious death. Beautiful scenery plus murder? That's weekend binge material right there. Just maybe don't watch it before your camping trip.
- The Return of Assane Diop: If you're like me and have been obsessed with Lupin, here's fantastic news – Omar Sy is coming back for a fourth season! Plus, we can expect new installments of fan favorites like Alice in Borderland and Black Mirror. My sleep schedule is already quaking.
Netflix isn't just stopping at series, either. 2025 will bring a feast of movies, documentaries, and anime to satisfy your every craving. I'm personally intrigued by Megadoc, which goes behind the scenes of Francis Ford Coppola's Megalopolis. Film nerds, assemble!
The Competition: What Else Will Fight for Your Screen Time in 2025
Of course, Netflix isn't the only player in the streaming game. Apple TV+ is bringing out the big guns with a Siegfried & Roy limited series starring Jude Law and Andrew Garfield (can we talk about that casting for a second?). Meanwhile, Fox is hoping to capture our attention with Memory of a Killer, featuring McDreamy himself, Patrick Dempsey. And don't even get me started on Michelle Yeoh in The Surgeon – after Everything Everywhere All at Once, I'll watch her in literally anything.
So Many Shows, So Little Time
Looking at all these upcoming releases, I'm already wondering how I'll fit them all in (and whether my friends will notice if I cancel plans for a month or two). Whether you're into laugh-out-loud comedies, edge-of-your-seat thrillers, mind-bending animations, or dramatic biopics, 2025 is shaping up to be an incredible year for content.
Which show are you most excited about? I'm personally counting down the days until more Lupin, but that Madonna series might just steal the spotlight. Whatever your preference, one thing's for sure – we're all going to need to schedule some serious couch time in 2025!
