Discover how Salman Khan's Bajrangi Bhaijaan became his biggest hit after being rejected by Aamir Khan and Allu Arjun, earning 10x its budget worldwide.

Salman Khan, a name that resonates with Bollywood fans worldwide, has been a fixture in the film industry for over three decades. With countless blockbuster films under his belt, Khan is known for his strong presence and record-breaking box office hits. However, did you know that his biggest hit ever, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, was once rejected by Aamir Khan and Allu Arjun before it went on to earn 10 times its budget?

Bajrangi Bhaijaan, released in 2015, stands as one of Salman Khan’s most successful films, both critically and commercially. The film, produced by Khan himself, along with Rockline Venkatesh and Kabir Khan, was a heart-wrenching tale about Pawan, a devoted Hanuman follower. He embarks on a journey to reunite a mute Pakistani girl with her family. The emotional and inspirational story won the hearts of audiences across the globe.

Before Salman Khan was cast in the lead, the film’s script was offered to other big names in the industry. Reports indicate that when director Kabir Khan approached Aamir Khan, the actor had ideas for changes to the script. However, Khan and the director could not agree on certain points, leading Aamir Khan to reject the film. Afterward, Bajrangi Bhaijaan was reportedly offered to Allu Arjun, who turned it down due to prior commitments.

The film, which also stars Kareena Kapoor and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, went on to become a major hit. Made on a budget of ₹90 crore, Bajrangi Bhaijaan earned ₹320.34 crore in India and a whopping ₹922 crore worldwide — an extraordinary 10 times its initial investment. Its success solidified it as one of India's highest-grossing films ever, further boosting Salman Khan’s reign as one of Bollywood’s top stars.

Apart from Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Salman Khan has starred in other massive hits like Tiger Zinda Hai (₹588 crore worldwide) and Sultan (₹607 crore worldwide), showing his consistent box office appeal.

Fans are eagerly awaiting Khan’s next big release, Sikandar, directed by AR Murugadoss. The film, starring Rashmika Mandanna alongside Khan, is currently in production and is slated for an Eid 2025 release. The teaser was originally set to be launched on Khan’s 59th birthday, December 27, but was delayed following the demise of Manmohan Singh.

With a history of hits and anticipation for what’s next, Salman Khan continues to dominate Bollywood.
