Comedian Samay Raina has finally responded to the controversy surrounding his show India’s Got Latent, which landed in legal trouble after Ranveer Allahbadia made an inappropriate joke on the platform.

Samay Raina’s Response

Samay posted a statement on X (formerly Twitter), saying that the situation has been overwhelming for him. He wrote:

"Everything that is happening has been too much for me to handle. I have removed all India’s Got Latent videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly. Thank you."

This response came after Balraj Singh Ghai, a judge and producer of the show, shared photos of himself with Samay and the team on Instagram. The pictures showed Samay in Seattle, US, performing a stand-up show, playing chess, and spending time with friends.

Internet Reacts

Many social media users were not satisfied with Samay’s statement. A common concern was the absence of an apology. One person commented, “So long post but you didn’t use the word ‘sorry’ or ‘regret’ anywhere.” Another wrote, “Make people laugh with this kind of content? Seriously?”

However, some fans showed support, with comments like “Hoping things get resolved soon” and “Stay strong, spreading joy matters.”

What Led to the Controversy?

The issue began when Ranveer Allahbadia made a controversial joke on India’s Got Latent, which many found offensive. A formal complaint was filed with the Mumbai Commissioner and Maharashtra Women’s Commission against Ranveer, Samay, Apoorva Mukhija, and the show’s organizers. They were accused of using abusive language and making inappropriate remarks about women for entertainment and profit.

Following the backlash, Ranveer issued a video apology on X, admitting that his remarks were "inappropriate" and made in an "insensitive" manner. He stated that “comedy is not his forte” and that “it wasn’t cool.”

For now, Samay has taken down the show’s videos, but the controversy continues, with many still waiting for a direct apology.
