Salman Khan's latest film, Sikandar, released in theaters on Sunday, March 30, 2025, just before the Eid festivities—a period often associated with his box office successes. Despite high expectations and advance booking collections nearing ₹10 crore, the film's opening day in India saw earnings of approximately ₹26 crore, falling short of the projected ₹40-45 crore.

The filmmakers have reported a worldwide opening of ₹54 crore, though detailed figures are yet to be disclosed.

When compared to Salman Khan's previous Eid releases, Sikandar's opening day performance is modest. For instance, Tiger Zinda Hai debuted with ₹34.10 crore, Bajrangi Bhaijaan with ₹27.25 crore, and Sultan with ₹36.54 crore. However, Sikandar did outperform Dabangg 2, which had a first-day collection of ₹21.10 crore.

The film's initial performance may have been impacted by online piracy. Trade analyst Komal Nahta confirmed that Sikandar was leaked online shortly after its release, potentially affecting box office numbers.

Despite the subdued start, there is optimism that Sikandar's collections will improve on Monday, March 31, due to the Eid holiday, which traditionally draws larger audiences to cinemas. The film recorded an overall Hindi occupancy rate of 20.95% on its opening day, with Chennai leading at 46.67%, followed by Bengaluru at 28%.

Directed by A.R. Murugadoss, Sikandar features a star-studded cast, including Rashmika Mandanna, Kajal Aggarwal, Sathyaraj, Sharman Joshi, and Prateik Babbar. Fans and industry watchers are keenly observing the film's performance in the coming days to see if it can gain momentum and achieve box office success.
