Country star Morgan Wallen’s quick exit from Saturday Night Live (SNL) over the weekend has sparked online chatter, with an SNL writer adding a humorous twist to the situation.
After performing two songs as the musical guest on the episode hosted by actress Mikey Madison, Wallen was seen whispering something in her ear before walking off the stage. Instead of staying for the usual hugs and farewell moments with the cast and crew, he disappeared past the camera and out of Studio 8H.
Shortly after, Wallen posted a photo of his private jet on Instagram with the caption, “Get me to God’s country,” leaving fans curious about his rushed departure.
SNL Writer’s Playful Response
In response, SNL writer Josh Patten shared a meme on his Instagram Story, humorously mocking Wallen’s exit. He posted an image of a Krispy Kreme donut truck with its roll-up door open, captioning it with the same words Wallen had used: “Get me to God’s country.”
Patten followed it up with another slide showing his Apple Music 2023 replay list, which featured multiple Morgan Wallen songs, proving that his joke was just lighthearted fun rather than personal criticism.
Morgan Wallen’s Rocky History with SNL
This isn’t the first time Wallen has made headlines for his interactions with SNL. In 2020, he was originally scheduled to perform on the show but was dropped at the last minute for violating COVID-19 safety protocols after being seen partying maskless. He later returned in December of the same year, even appearing in a sketch that made fun of the incident.
While Wallen hasn’t addressed his hasty departure from SNL, the moment—and Patten’s playful jab—has certainly caught fans’ attention.
