Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan prefer to keep their romance private, but the singer couldn’t resist casting her boyfriend in the music video for her song "Please Please Please."

In a recent interview with CBS Sunday Morning, Sabrina, 25, shared why she chose Barry, 31, for the role. She said, “I wasn’t biased—well, maybe a little! But he’s genuinely the best actor I could think of, and he was already sitting next to me, excited to do it.”

In the video, Barry, best known for his role in Saltburn, plays a criminal love interest who gets arrested for robbing someone. Sabrina’s character later ties him to a chair and tapes his mouth shut. The singer added, “He likes the song, and he’s a fan of my music, which is amazing.”

Having her boyfriend star in the video saved Sabrina the trouble of going through casting calls and awkward Zoom meetings. Plus, their on-camera kisses were much more comfortable than working with a stranger.

The couple has been dating since 2023 but likes to keep their relationship low-key. That’s why fans were surprised when the video dropped in June, showing their amazing chemistry on screen.

Sabrina has praised Barry’s acting skills many times, calling him “one of the best actors of this generation.” She told Variety that working with him made the video even more special. In another interview with The Guardian, she described the experience as one of the highlights of her career.

Though Sabrina is usually private, she’s open about how her music reflects her life as a 25-year-old. “I just want to be honest in my songs, even if it means letting people see a bit more of my personal life,” she said.

No matter what the future holds for Sabrina and Barry, this stylish music video will always be a sweet memento of their relationship.
