As the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 continues in Prayagraj, former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has raised important issues about the event. He has asked the state government to extend the duration of the Kumbh Mela to accommodate all the devotees who are still waiting to attend. Yadav pointed out that previous Maha Kumbhs lasted 75 days, but this year’s event is much shorter.

Calls for Relaxing Vehicle Tolls

Akhilesh Yadav also suggested that the government should waive vehicle tolls in Uttar Pradesh during the Maha Kumbh to help reduce traffic jams and make travel easier for people. He questioned why the government could make films tax-free but not help people during the grand festival.

Demand for Transparency and Action on Stampede

Yadav also expressed concern over the recent stampede at the Maha Kumbh, which led to several deaths and injuries. He has called for transparency in reporting the number of deaths and injuries, urging the government to provide clear figures. He also suggested that disaster management and the lost-and-found center should be handled by the Army for better management.

Yadav’s comments come at a time when the safety and organization of such a large event are being questioned, with the aim to ensure a better experience for the millions of people visiting the Kumbh Mela.
