A fire broke out early on Saturday at the under-construction Sabarmati bullet train station in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The fire started around 6:30 a.m., and the local fire department quickly responded by sending 13 fire trucks to the site. The fire was controlled, and fortunately, no one was injured or killed.
Cause of the Fire
The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), responsible for the bullet train project, said the fire happened in the roof shuttering area of the station. It looks like welding sparks from temporary shuttering work caused the fire. The exact cause is still being investigated, but welding sparks are believed to be the main reason.
Impact on the Bullet Train Project
The Sabarmati station is a key part of the bullet train project connecting Mumbai and Ahmedabad. This project is being supported by the Japanese government. Despite this fire, the NHSRCL is closely watching the situation and working to make sure there are no further problems. The station will be India’s first-ever bullet train terminal and will have modern design features. The bullet train project is part of a 508-kilometer rail line that will also include stations in cities like Surat and Vadodara.
The fire was quickly dealt with, and officials are making sure that construction continues safely. The bullet train project is expected to improve travel time and boost economic growth in the region.
