In the 2025 Union Budget, the government has announced several initiatives to support gig workers, improving their financial security and welfare. One of the key highlights is the revamp of the PM Swanidhi Scheme, aimed at enhancing the livelihood of urban street vendors. The scheme will now offer higher loan limits, making financial assistance more accessible. Additionally, a new ₹30,000 UPI-linked credit card will be introduced, providing easier access to credit for these workers.

The government has also taken significant steps to ensure the socio-economic upliftment of urban workers through a new scheme designed to offer enhanced loan opportunities under PM Swanidhi. This will help these workers in their efforts to grow their businesses and improve their livelihoods.

Moreover, to further support gig workers, the government is facilitating the issuance of identity cards and registration on the e-Shram portal. This initiative aims to provide insurance coverage for nearly 1 crore gig workers, ensuring they have access to benefits such as health and life insurance.

These measures are part of the government's continued efforts to strengthen the support system for the informal sector and gig workers, helping them achieve greater financial stability and access to essential services.
