Two people in Nagpur, Maharashtra, have been found with a virus called Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV). One is a 7-year-old, and the other is 13 years old. The Deputy Director of Health, Shashikant Shambharkar, said that both children tested positive for the virus in a private hospital, but they have been treated and sent home. Their medical reports are being sent to AIIMS Nagpur for further checks. HMPV is a virus that causes illnesses like colds and coughs. It can affect anyone, but it’s more common in children and older people.

The virus spreads through the air, especially in colder months like winter and early spring. It was first discovered in 2001. India has already found three cases of HMPV. Two were in Bengaluru, Karnataka, and one was in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. These cases were found as part of regular health checks across the country. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) are watching the situation carefully.

Even though there are a few cases, India’s Health Minister JP Nadda has told people not to worry. He said the virus is not new, and health officials are ready to handle any cases. The government is working with experts to keep track of all respiratory illnesses. Nadda assured everyone that there is no big increase in HMPV cases. The World Health Organization (WHO) is also aware of the situation and will share a report soon.

Nadda said there is no reason to panic, as there are no signs of a rise in cases of the virus. Health authorities are staying alert, and the government is making sure everything is under control. In short, even though a few people in India have HMPV, the situation is under control. The virus is not new, and there is no need to worry. Health authorities are closely watching everything to keep people safe.
