Illegal Building Demolished in Hyderabad’s Madhapur

Hyderabad authorities have begun demolishing a multi-storied building in Ayyappa Society, Madhapur, that was allegedly constructed without proper approval. The demolition work, supervised by the HYDRAA (Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority), started on Sunday and continued on Monday using large cranes.

Court-Ordered Action

The demolition was ordered by the High Court, which had earlier directed the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to remove the illegal structure. Previously, GHMC had drilled holes into the building's slabs as a warning measure, but the builder reportedly sealed the holes and continued to illegally construct seven floors.

Focus on Illegal Constructions

According to officials, many buildings in Ayyappa Society have been built illegally. HYDRAA plans to prioritize demolishing those constructions that have clear legal orders from the court.

Accountability Measures

A V Ranganath, the Commissioner of HYDRAA, stated that a report would be prepared identifying officers responsible for allowing the illegal construction. This report will be sent to the government for further action.

This demolition is part of a larger effort to tackle unauthorized constructions in Hyderabad.
