Idols in Hindu temples vandalized in Bangladesh, with two suspects arrested. India urges action to protect minorities and ensure their safety.

Eight idols in three Hindu temples were vandalized in Bangladesh this week, local media reported. Five idols were damaged in Dinajpur, and three idols in two temples in Mymensingh. Police have arrested two suspects for the incidents.

In Mymensingh's Haluaghat area, miscreants damaged two idols at the Bonderpara Temple on Thursday and Friday. Police arrested a man named Azharul, who is being taken to court. Another idol was damaged at the Polashkanda Kali Temple in the same area. A 27-year-old man, Alal Uddin, confessed to the crime and has been sent to jail.

In Dinajpur’s Birganj area, five idols were vandalized at the Jharbari Shashan Kali Temple. The temple committee president, Janardan Roy, said, “We’ve never seen such an act here.”

This is the latest in a series of attacks targeting Hindus in Bangladesh. Last week, four people were arrested for damaging a Hindu temple and homes in Sunamganj.

The Indian government has taken the incidents seriously. Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh told the Lok Sabha that 2,200 cases of violence against Hindus and minorities in Bangladesh have been reported this year. India has urged Bangladesh to protect its minorities and ensure their safety.

These attacks highlight ongoing concerns about the safety of the Hindu community in Bangladesh. Authorities are being urged to take stronger action to prevent such incidents.
