The government of India earlier initiated various policies to increase mobile exports for the country. As per the IANS, these measures have led the mobile exports to cross over rs. 85,000 crores.
The government had set a target of Rs.1 lakh crore mobile exports required to be achieved in 2023. The Minister of State for Electronics and IT, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi envisions making mobile phone exports among the top 10 exports from India.
India surpassed the $10 billion worth mark for smartphone exports because of attractive government incentives. As per ICEA, India Cellular and Electronics Association, India doubled its exports from the last fiscal year.
As per ET Now, more than 97% of the smartphones sold in India are produced domestically. Making India the second-largest producer of mobile phones.
Italy, the UK, the US, the Netherlands and the UAE are the top five destinations where India exports mobile phones! The vision is not limited to 2023, as the trends showcase that India might produce 45%-50% of Apple’s iPhones by 2027, which will be at par with China.
As per the statistics for 2022, China produced around 85% of iPhones, while India’s overall production stood at 10-15%. Apple became the first player to have exported $1 billion in iPhones into India in December.
