According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, a total of 126 Indian nationals were recruited by the Russian military. Out of these, 96 individuals have returned to India after being discharged from the Russian armed forces. However, 18 remain, and 16 of them are currently categorized as missing.
The Indian government is pushing for the early discharge and repatriation of the remaining Indian nationals who are still serving in the Russian Army. The MEA has expressed its concern and is actively coordinating with Russian officials to resolve the matter quickly.
Death and Injuries of Indian Nationals in Russia
The situation has taken a tragic turn with the death of 32-year-old Binil T B from Kerala, who was killed in a drone attack while serving on the frontlines. His relative, 27-year-old Jain T K, also from Kerala, was severely injured and is receiving medical treatment in Moscow.
The Indian Embassy in Moscow is in touch with the families of the victims and providing all possible support. The MEA has confirmed that efforts are being made to bring Binil’s remains back to India and ensure Jain’s safe return as soon as possible.
