India has strongly responded to comments made by former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said her remarks were made in a personal capacity and not related to India’s official position.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal explained that Sheikh Hasina’s comments should not be mixed with India’s official stance, as it could harm the relationship between India and Bangladesh. India has repeatedly said it wants to maintain a positive and constructive relationship with Bangladesh, but statements from Bangladesh authorities often portray India negatively, blaming it for internal issues in Bangladesh.

India urged Bangladesh not to mix individual comments with the official position of the country, as this would not help improve relations. India is committed to building strong ties with Bangladesh, and it hopes Bangladesh will do the same.

This statement from India came after the recent vandalism of the home of Bangladesh's founder, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. India condemned the act and called for it to be strongly condemned by all those who value Bangladesh's freedom struggle. The protests were linked to an online speech by Sheikh Hasina.

India-Bangladesh Relationship
