A fire broke out at an ISKCON camp in Maha Kumbh Nagar, Prayagraj, on Friday, causing panic among devotees and nearby camps. The incident happened in Sector 18, Shankaracharya Marg, within the Maha Kumbh Mela area.
Fire department officials quickly responded to the emergency. Chief Fire Officer Pramod Sharma said that fire tenders were immediately sent to the spot, and the fire has been fully controlled.
Thick smoke filled the air, and more than a dozen nearby camps were affected, causing significant damage. However, no casualties have been reported so far.
Inspector Yogesh Chaturvedi mentioned that the fire started near Tulsi Chauraha on Old GT Road. Firefighters worked swiftly to bring it under control, and officials are now investigating the cause of the fire and assessing the total damage.
DIG (Maha Kumbh) Vaibhav Krishna confirmed that the situation is under control. He reassured everyone on social media that no one was injured in the incident.
Similar Fire Incident Last Month
This is the third fire incident reported in the Kumbh Mela area. Last month, a major fire broke out due to a cylinder blast in Sector 19, injuring one person and burning 18 tents.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who was in Prayagraj for Mauni Amavasya preparations, visited the site and instructed officials to take steps to prevent such incidents in the future.
Authorities have cordoned off the affected area, and investigations are ongoing.
