A 3.2 magnitude earthquake hit Gujarat's Kutch district on Wednesday. No casualties or damage reported. Details on the tremor and its impact.

A mild earthquake of 3.2 magnitude shook the Kutch district in Gujarat on Wednesday morning, according to the Institute of Seismological Research (ISR). Fortunately, no injuries or damage to property were reported by the district administration.

The tremor occurred at 10:24 am, with its epicentre located 23 kilometres north-northeast (NNE) of Bhachau, as per the ISR in Gandhinagar.

This is not the first recent seismic activity in the area. Last month, Kutch experienced four tremors with a magnitude of over 3, including another 3.2 magnitude tremor just three days ago, also near Bhachau.

Gujarat is considered a high-risk zone for earthquakes. According to the Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority (GSDMA), the state has experienced nine major earthquakes in the last 200 years.

One of the most devastating earthquakes occurred in Kutch on January 26, 2001. It was the third largest and second most destructive earthquake in India in the last two centuries. That earthquake caused nearly complete destruction in several towns and villages, killing around 13,800 people and injuring 1.67 lakh others.

While Wednesday's tremor was mild, it serves as a reminder of the region’s vulnerability to earthquakes. The authorities continue to monitor the situation closely.
