A helicopter operated by Manang Air, crashed killing six people onboard near Mt. Everest in Nepal. The deceased bodies were "broken into pieces" when rescuers arrived.
The private commercial helicopter lost communication 15 minutes into their trip from Surke Surke in the Solukhunvhu region, which is home to Mount Everest. Reportedly, The chopper had six people onboard which included five Mexicans and Captain Chet Bahadur Gurung, who was identified by Kathmandu Post.
The chopper registered 9N-AMV, disappeared from radar at approximately 10 a.m. in the Lamjura Pass area. Residents of a community in Lamjura, Solukhunvhu district, later discovered debris.
The cause of the crash remained unknown at the time. The government will form a committee to investigate the helicopter crash.
According to Nepal's tourism chief, the mountain's changeable weather has resulted in one of the deadliest years on record.
As per an article by The Guardian, Experts predict that this year will be one of the deadliest on Mount Everest, with changeable weather induced by climate change being one of the main reasons for the deaths of up to 17 individuals.
