On Tuesday, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted searches at 16 places in Tamil Nadu as part of an investigation into an ISIS radicalisation case. The raids started early in the morning and targeted the hideouts of people suspected of spreading ISIS ideas and trying to recruit others.

The NIA has been looking into ISIS-related radicalisation and recruitment across different states in India. These searches aim to find evidence linked to people promoting ISIS and encouraging others to join the group.

This investigation is based on a new case filed last year after the NIA uncovered the involvement of some individuals in supporting ISIS. In October 2022, the NIA arrested three people connected to a car bomb blast in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, which was inspired by ISIS. The investigation showed that these people helped fund the attack.

Further investigation into ISIS supporters led to the arrest of four more suspects. These individuals were charged with spreading ISIS’s ideas. The NIA is continuing its work to stop the spread of extremist views and prevent future attacks.

The NIA’s actions are part of India’s effort to fight terrorism and keep the country safe.
